Blenheim Apricots

This seems like a rare opportunity to consume something endangered and not feel guilty about it.

In 2002, two jam-loving entrepreneurs produced a jam in extremely limited quantities from one very old, organic Blenheim apricot tree in California's Santa Clara Valley for friends and family. After a mention in Food and Wine magazine, and more requests than their single tree could accomodate, they began looking around for an orchard they could buy more fruit from.

This is when they learned that this variety of apricot is endangered. They now produce jam from one of the last remaining Blenheim orchards in the valley. Apparently, the Blenheim is a delicate fruit that bruises easily and this has been its downfall from a business perspective.

According to their website, people who are on diets have been reported to eat an entire jar in one day. hmmm. People who are on diets or people with no self-control on diets?
